What does INZORA mean?
"Is it Kinyarwanda?" many people ask us. Indeed it is. INZORA is a word almost lost from Kinyarwanda. But ask an older person or scavenge deep into old poetry and transcribed oral histories, and you will find that INZORA was used to describe a magical red full moon.
Our Philosophy
locally sourced We source locally whenever possible and believe that this is one of our most important contributions to the economy. From our furniture to the tea leaves, almost everything you see inside INZORA has been carefully hand produced in Rwanda by skilled artisans and farmers.
fusing old with new At INZORA we are inspired by the traditional designs and crafts of Rwanda. Our coffee cups are made locally, by traditional potters outside of Kibuye, and are handcrafted with a modern design. Traditional imigongo designs and beautiful Kitenge cloth appear throughout INZORA.
sustainability We are happy to do our part to promote sustainability and keep Rwanda beautiful. Our stainless steel straws are carefully cleaned and sterilised between uses along with our cloth napkins. We encourage our customers to use reusable take-away cups and containers, but do have compostable cups available for times when reusable containers aren't an option.
real food We love the flavours and colours found in nature and everything that we serve at INZORA is made with real ingredients. The syrup for our natural sodas is made in store from real fruits and spices without anything artificial. Our Ugandan neighbours produce some of the world's best vanilla beans and these are used to flavour many of our baked goods.
